Rick opened up to Merle about the plan and what the Governor wants. Merle told Rick that the Governor will not kill Michonne but instead he will play over with her and make her suffer. Rick also asked advise from Merle on how to take Michonne and Merle did it himself. He tied Michonne with a wire and brought her into the car for him to hand it over to the Governor. As they go on, Michonne told Merle that they can still go back to the prison. At first Merle yelled to her that he cannot do that but later untied Michonne and let her went back to the prison asking her to help the group defending the prison. Merle continued doing his own mission towards the Governor and when he got there and about to shoot the Governor, the walker attacked him. Daryl followed him actually and returned to the prison with the news that one of the walker who attacked him was so familiar and later realized it was Merle. He was attacked by Merle and have to defend himself by killing Merle by himself.

Looking back at previous episode "Arrow on the Doorpost" of The Walking Dead, a negotiation happened between the Governor and Rick. But it was a betrayal plan. This meeting was made inorder to avoid spilling of blood in both party. But of course, Daryl and Hershel were prepared in case the Governor will set a bad plan. Along with the conversation inside that old barn, Andrea suggested to the Governor that together with his people, the Governor must take the west of the river and Rick with his people will take the east side. But the Governor didn't honored anything he said. Despite, he said, there is only one reason why he was there, to make Rick surrender. Rick was so angry and Andrea calmed him. But the Governor told Andrea to step out and was so embarrassed. The Governor told them that Andrea has no position to make such decision.
Outside the barn, the walkers was seen coming for an attacked but Daryl, Martinez and Andrea killed them all which was made the start of good conversation between Daryl and Martinez. Back to the prison, Merle was so restless and wanted so much to crashed the peace talks because he was very much worried about Daryl. He also wanted to kill the Governor but Glenn stopped him and told him it wasn't a good idea. Until the two fought. Back to the Governor and Rick peace talk, the Governor asked Rick that he wanted Michonne to avoid much blood after letting Rick see his wound in the eye. He give Rick 2 days for him to surrender Michonne and both of them go out headed to their own vehicles. At the Woodbury, the Governor confessed to Martinez that his real plan was to kill all the people in the prison including Rick but he wanted Michonne to be alive because he wanted so much to torture her as payment for what she did to his daughter. Milton heard all the Governor had said and was so disappointed because he thought the result of the peace talk was positive. What will become of these plans?
